From the desk of the Regional Director
Welcome to the 2000-2001 Odyssey of the Mind Season. It is my pleasure to be serving as regional director again. A special thank you to each of the following individuals who have so graciously volunteered to give of their time and talents to support the Odyssey program for our regions students: Tanner Lovelace, Vice-regional director; Marjorie Moe, Secretary; Tom Mrozek, Treasurer; Janell Lovelace, Tournament Director; Amber Hurst, Site Coordinator; Lynne Gerber and Deb Wolff, Judge Trainers; and Andy Cordes, Webmaster.
Thanks to this great team, planning for an exciting and fun year is well underway. The board expects to have decisions regarding sites and dates made at the September board meeting. Coaches, Coordinators, and volunteers wishing to have input into these decisions are invited to attend the meeting.
As with any task, "many hands make light work", and so the board continues to welcome additional volunteers to assist in providing the best possible program.
This past season brought us amazing solutions from the students and I am looking forward to seeing more fantastic ideas, and to meeting and making new friends through our Odyssey of the Mind 2001 season. Patti Adams

For directions to Nortel Networks, RTP, our host for the meeting, and to have your name added to the security check in list, please contact Amber Hurst 905-3900, ahurst@nortelnetworks.com; or Patti Adams 933-5595, wp_adams@mindspring.com. The agenda includes, regional tournament date and site selection, coaches training plans, registration forms, fees, procedures, annual budget and fundraising.
State T-shirts and Pins
The design of T-shirts and pins for North Carolina Odyssey of the Mind has begun. The sale of T-shirts provides a substantial portion of the revenue to run the state program, and each shirt sold in our region generates $1.00 of income to support our region. Therefore, the design needs to be appealing to everyone--students, coaches and volunteers.
If you have suggestions or ideas for designs please send a sketch or verbal explanation to Ginger Cordes by September 9th. Ginger has generously volunteered to represent our region on the design committee. All suggestions will be used in a brainstorming session and will be subject to scampering and piggybacking, so they will most likely not be used exactly as submitted. Like all designing in the Odyssey program the more ideas the better! So please get your ideas to Ginger before September 9th. Gingers address: 108 Benedict Lane, Raleigh, NC 27614
